For those who have a marriage visa and are currently living separately or are in the middle of divorce talks with your visa supporter, aren’t you worried if you can renew your visa or not?
The answer is quite simple: you should explain the truth correctly.
The condition for the marriage visa is that the couple are living together and getting along with each other. But life does not always go the way we expect.You will not lose your visa immediately after the divorce, but your renewal application will not be approved unless the Immigration Bureau understands and accepts your situation.
Please explain genuinely!
Remembering the hardships is painful, but please get over it otherwise your extension will be denied because you do not have reasons for living in Japan. If you are in the middle of the divorce talks or under divorce trial, please attach these documentations.
If it is difficult to ask your spouse to be your guarantor, please consult your friend. Japanese national or Permanent Residence can be your guarantor.
Having serious problems at the same time is very stressful. Even in that situation, you have to explain the “justifiable reasons” to apply for your extension. We can help ease your burden. Please count on us.

If your visa expires while you are applying for Permanent Residence, you must renew your current Visa. Application for Permanent Residence is not the procedure for visa change. If you fail to renew your current visa, you will lose it (this is applied to Naturalization process, too.)
In the normal application, you are required to submit the original documents. But when you apply for Permanent Residence and Visa renewal at the same time, you are allowed to attach the copy to the renewal and the original to the Permanent Residence.
Visa renewal application can be done 3 months from the expiry date. If you are going to apply for Permanent Residence soon (or you have already applied), please finish your Visa renewal application early.
