You may think you can surely obtain marriage visa if you marry a Japanese. However, it does not work that way. Getting married is one thing and Getting Marriage is quite another. You must get through both steps.
Before the application, their marriage must be registered legally in both Japan and the spouse’s mother country.
These are the situations which the application for spousal visa is often disapproved.
・ There is a big age difference
・ The couple met each other through matrimonial agency
・ The couple met through online dating website
・ The couple met in a bar or nightclub
・ The Japanese married and divorced foreign spouses twice or more before
・ The dating period is short
・ There are few pictures of the couple
・ There are few communication records of the couple
・ They did not hold a wedding ceremony
・ The income of Japanese partner is low
If any of the condition above apply to you, please prepare the documentation with special care. The Immigration is suspicious that the marriage is not true. In order to prove that you and your spouse is tied with strong and true love, it is a better choice for you to ask a specialist for advice.
When the application is approved, the foreign spouse can register his/her common name. You can use the spouse’s surname like “Suzuki Maria.” Your original name is not changed, but it is kind of a symbol of their marriage and which will make you feel more “Family.” This is so brilliant, isn’t it?
