Hello. I’m Nakajima, in charge of applying for relationship-based VISA.
Do you know that there are three patterns of procedures for foreigners to obtain Japanese nationality?
Normal Naturalization, Simplified Naturalization, and Special Naturalization.
I think that few people have heard the name.
Therefore, now I introduce it by focusing on the special case of "Simplified Naturalization".
As a general rule, those who are over 20 years old, pay taxes and pensions properly, have no legal violations and have a living in Japan are eligible. (Please be careful if you have a traffic violation)
Normal Naturalization
Those who were born in a foreign country and came to Japan for work, etc.
(Minors can also apply when applying with parents)
・ Continued to stay in Japan for more than 5 years and have more than 3 years of
experience working in that period
・ Continue to stay in Japan for more than 10 years and have more than 1 year
experience working in that period
Special naturalization
Foreigners with a track record of achievements in Japan.
I have heard that it is quite difficult to be recognized and there is no precedent.
Simplified Naturalization
Requirements are more generous than Normal Naturalization. There are three patterns.
Pattern A
This person can apply for Naturalization even if they have not lived in Japan for more than 5 years.
・ A real child of a Japanese National who has lived in Japan for more than 3 years
・ Born in Japan and have lived in Japan for more than 3 years
・ Born in Japan and have a real father or mother born in Japan
Pattern B
Even if you have not lived in Japan for more than 5 years and have not reached the age of 20, you can apply for Naturalization.
・ Spouse of Japanese who has lived in Japan for more than 3 years
・ Spouse of Japanese who has lived in Japan for more than 1 year, 3 years after
being married
Pattern C
Even if you have not lived in Japan for more than 5 years, you have not reached the age of 20, and you cannot live without the help of yourself or your family, you can also apply for Naturalization.
・ A child of Japanese living in Japan
・ An adopted child of Japanese who has lived in Japan for more than one year and
was a minor in his hom country when he was adopted.
・ A person who has lost Japanese nationality and lives in Japan
・ Born in Japan, have no nationality since birth, and have lived in Japan for more
than 3 years since birth.
Even if your visa status is not interrupted, if you leave Japan for more than 3 months at a time or 150 days a year, you are likely to think that you are not in Japan. If you have many overseas business trips, please check this point.
Please note that generous application requirements do not make examination easier.
How was it?
